Transmission fluid is the heart and soul of every vehicle. Not only does it remove
heat from the internal elements of your transmission, but it also sets in motion gear
changes through hydraulic pressure. An automatic transmission helps to ensure
your vehicle runs properly. The automatic transmission prevents the driver from
having to shift gears by hand and will do this for you automatically. Its main
purpose is to deliver power to the wheels so that the vehicle can move. One of the
main elements is the seals and gaskets that control the flow of hydraulic fluid and
keeps it from leaking out onto other parts of the engine. When this occurs the front
seal must be replaced. The transmission seal that is most frequently replaced to
prevent leakage is the tail shaft seal. This seals the driveshaft where it fastens to
the output shaft of the transmission. It is attached at this point with the use of
splines. As the vehicle moves, the drive shaft moves in and out as bumps are
experienced. The seal maintains the fluid in the transmission when the driveshaft
moves in and out.
Always pay attention to the warnings your car will give you before any messages
on screen pop up. Unusual sounds, smells, and movements are your vehicle’s way
of communicating with you that something is not right. Make sure that if you
suspect serious issues, such as a failing torque converter or any other possible
transmission problems with vehicle that you get it diagnosed by a professional as
soon as you can. Here at Eagle Transmission, we offer no-obligation, free
external inspections. Call us at 940.898.0808 today - we are happy to help with all
of your transmission needs.
